Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

Employer: an expanding Queensland aviation maintenance business, based in Cairns, whose work covers many aircraft types and airline clients in Australia and throughout the Pacific.

Who is wanted: two groups of engineers. First, LAMEs who already hold B1.1/B2 licences. Second, qualified AMEs who bring solid hands-on maintenance experience.

You will use your technical know-how inside a professional aviation organisation in Australia, work on a wider spread of aircraft and keep progressing through further training and new approvals. Key Responsibilities

  • Hangar and line work: carry out both line and heavy maintenance, on regional turboprops as well as jets
  • Inspection programme: complete planned and unplanned maintenance checks, routine servicing and the replacement of parts
  • Fault finding: trace and fix defects, troubleshoot aircraft systems and their components, and raise any technical issue you identify
  • Turnaround support: help get aircraft turned around quickly and assist with day-to-day line maintenance
  • Paperwork: fill in technical logs and every piece of maintenance documentation accurately
  • Regulatory compliance: work strictly to approved procedures, CASA requirements and the aviation standards that apply
  • Teamwork: cooperate closely with fellow engineers and the wider maintenance crew
  • Career growth: join type training on aircraft and further approval programs

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Licence (LAME applicants): LAME – B1.1 / B2, holding a current CASA B1.1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence
  • Must-have type for LAMEs: Q400 experience is essential
  • Further types for LAMEs: Dash 8 Classic 100/200/300 experience highly regarded; B737 NG or MAX experience advantageous; narrow-body or wide-body aircraft experience beneficial
  • General background for LAMEs: a strong hands-on track record in aircraft maintenance, with sound knowledge of aviation safety and maintenance procedures
  • AME applicants, time in industry: Minimum 5 years' aviation industry experience
  • AME applicants, qualifications: relevant aircraft maintenance qualifications
  • AME applicants, line work: practical line maintenance experience preferred
  • AME applicants, heavy work: heavy maintenance experience considered
  • AME applicants, turboprops: turboprop experience advantageous
  • AME applicants, fault skills: strong troubleshooting and defect rectification skills
  • AME applicants, work setting: able to work safely and efficiently in a demanding maintenance environment
