Automotive Technician

Workshop: an expanding automotive business in South Australia with a full-time vacancy for a skilled Motor Mechanic – European Vehicle Specialist.

Who suits it: a seasoned mechanic comfortable with sophisticated European systems who likes getting to the bottom of tricky mechanical and electrical faults.

The work: a mix of servicing, diagnosis, repair and preventative maintenance, supported by up-to-date diagnostic technology and manufacturer-specific data.

Outlook: a long-term job in Australia, and employer sponsorship is available for eligible candidates. Mechanics in Pakistan should note that good English communication skills appear in the requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on European makes across servicing, diagnosis and repair
  • Track down difficult mechanical and electrical faults
  • Read fault codes, wiring diagrams, workshop manuals and maker specifications
  • Use specialised scan tools and computer-based diagnostic gear to find and fix faults in electrical and electronic systems
  • Repair and look after engines, transmissions, braking, steering and suspension; pull apart, examine and assess engines, transmissions and other components
  • Swap out or repair components that are damaged, worn or defective, and rebuild systems once the fix is done
  • Handle scheduled services and preventative maintenance, such as oil, filter and fluid changes and other routine jobs
  • Carry out brake servicing, tune-ups and general mechanical work
  • Prove repairs by testing systems for safe, correct operation, then road test and complete final quality checks
  • Keep precise records of every service, repair and diagnostic job
  • Work to workshop safety procedures and a consistently high standard of workmanship

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Automotive trade qualification that is recognised, or an equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years as a Motor Mechanic in relevant professional roles
  • Practical, proven background on European vehicles
  • Strong at diagnosing and fault-finding in both mechanical and electrical systems, with experience on computerised automotive diagnostic equipment and scan tools
  • Confident diagnosing and fixing vehicle faults without supervision
  • Highly regarded: work on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Volvo, Land Rover, Range Rover or similar European brands
  • Can follow technical documentation, wiring diagrams and manufacturer procedures
  • Good English communication skills
  • Current driver's licence; committed to full-time employment in South Australia
  • Must meet applicable requirements for employer-sponsored visa consideration
