Bar Manager

Hospitality · North Sydney, Sydney NSW, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr

Role: Bar Manager, North Sydney. Level: senior hospitality, where your decisions shape how the bar performs.

Good service alone does not make a beverage operation succeed. The employer needs someone with a proven bar background who can lead, stay organised, keep an eye on costs and hold operating standards steady. You will take charge of the bar, give the team direction and help build a beverage program of real quality.

Your work history, leadership track record and ability to handle daily bar operations will decide your suitability. Have an English CV ready that shows each bar management role and its dates clearly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bar operations: full daily ownership of the bar
  • Team: lead and coach bartenders, set their rosters and collaborate with other venue staff
  • Drinks quality: consistent standards across cocktails, wine and spirits, and input into beverage menu development and ongoing improvement
  • Purchasing and stock: buy beverages, control stock and run efficient ordering and inventory systems
  • Costs: watch beverage usage against cost performance
  • Systems: create operating procedures and checklists, keep them current, and streamline bar workflows and service processes
  • Compliance: responsible service of alcohol and every liquor licence obligation

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Experience: at least three years in senior bartending or bar management roles that are relevant, with demonstrated responsibility for running bar operations
  • Product knowledge: strong practical understanding of cocktails, wine and spirits
  • Stock control: prior experience managing beverage stock and ordering, and an understanding of beverage costing and inventory control
  • Leadership: proven record of leading and training staff
  • Organisation: strong communication and organisational skills, a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in operations
  • Certification: current NSW RSA competency card
  • Hours: availability for evening and weekend shifts
  • Work rights: valid Australian work rights, or you are eligible for employer sponsorship
  • Evidence: ability to document your relevant employment experience and professional background
  • Sponsorship conditions: you must satisfy the applicable requirements for employer-sponsored employment in Australia
