Workshop plus remote sites in Queensland: that is the setting for this Boilermaker vacancy with a long-running industrial business. A qualification on paper is only the starting point. The employer is looking for experienced tradespeople whose credentials are backed by real fabrication work and time in heavy industry.
Bring practical welding and fabrication ability, a solid grasp of what quality standards demand, and the discipline to stay safe and productive near heavy plant and on industrial projects.
Boilermakers from Pakistan should prepare trade certificates and employment evidence in English before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate steel and perform boilermaking tasks using suitable tools and gear
- Prepare steel plate and sections by cutting, bending and shaping them
- Complete welding and fabrication to the specifications of each job, and do line boring if needed
- Coordinate with the leading hand and fabrication crew in the workshop and on site
- Check completed jobs against the customer's specs and quality standards, holding quality assurance steady on every task
- Stick to safe work methods and established procedures
- Operate independently or within a team, and demonstrate trade techniques and work methods to apprentices
- Adjust to whatever workshop and remote-site work calls for
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Boilermaking trade qualification, or an overseas qualification that is equivalent
- Practical, proven experience in steel fabrication and boilermaking
- Demonstrated skill in welding and metal fabrication
- Experience from manufacturing, mining or heavy industrial workplaces
- Highly regarded: previous line boring experience
- Evidence available to back up trade qualifications and relevant employment
- Strong grasp of quality and safety requirements in the workplace
- Can work Monday to Saturday plus occasional overtime, and will travel for remote-site assignments when required
- Can pass a pre-employment medical as well as drug and alcohol screening
