Boilermaker – Structural Steel

Trade: Boilermaker. Work: structural steel projects in New South Wales. Start: immediate, with consistent weekday hours.
The focus is practical trade skill, dependable workmanship and accurate fabrication in a professional project setting. You will fabricate and weld structural steel to drawings and set specifications, producing quality work safely and efficiently.
Ongoing work may follow, depending on performance and project requirements. Have trade certificates, a skills record and an English CV prepared before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication: structural steel fabrication and assembly, including measuring, marking, cutting and preparing steel components
- Welding: MIG welds to project and quality specifications
- Reading plans: interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans
- Fit-up: assemble fabricated steel sections and fit them accurately
- Quality checks: inspect welds and finished components for quality and accuracy
- Tools and PPE: use workshop and fabrication tools correctly and safely, maintain appropriate PPE and keep to safe work practices
- Procedures: follow project specifications, workplace procedures and safety requirements, and promptly report safety concerns, defects or material issues
- Teamwork: collaborate with other trades and project personnel
- Housekeeping: keep the work area clean, organised and free of hazards
- Delivery: meet production schedules and project deadlines so structural steel projects are completed efficiently
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade qualification: recognised as a Boilermaker, Fitter, Cert III Engineering & Fabrication or a related discipline
- Fabrication: demonstrated experience fabricating structural steel
- Welding: strong MIG welding skills
- Drawings: able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Site card: current White Card
- Gear: your own tools and appropriate PPE
- Work standards: strong focus on workmanship, accuracy and safety; works independently yet contributes well to a team; reliable attendance and a professional work ethic
- Extra tickets: EWP ticket advantageous; Working at Heights certification advantageous; Forklift licence advantageous
- Start date: available to commence work immediately, for Monday-to-Friday shifts
- Sponsorship: applicants requiring visa sponsorship may be considered, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, and visa sponsorship is available for the right applicant
