Breeder Farm Manager

Near Goulburn, NSW, a leading business in poultry breeding is hiring an experienced Breeder Farm Manager.

You will be accountable for: how the flock performs, the people on the farm and the running of daily operations.

Who suits the role: an established poultry professional with a solid production record, who understands that good results depend on careful monitoring, disciplined husbandry, tight biosecurity and capable leadership of a team.

Where your experience makes the difference: healthy breeder stock, production targets that are met, and finding ways to lift farm performance.

Applicants in Pakistan should complete emigration formalities, such as registration with the Protector of Emigrants, before travelling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of the breeder farm's daily running and overall performance
  • Run flock activities according to the farm's set production procedures
  • Keep track of production indicators, flock performance and the health of the birds, using proven husbandry methods to maintain quality breeder stock
  • Enforce strict hygiene, biosecurity and disease prevention, and see that animal welfare requirements are met consistently
  • Lead the farm team, supervising and developing employees
  • Allocate staff and plan each day's farm activities
  • Pinpoint production problems and apply practical fixes
  • Keep operational documents and farm records accurate, and write reports on farm operations and flock performance
  • Look for ways to make the farm more productive, efficient and consistent
  • Partner with senior management to hit agreed production objectives
  • Foster teamwork, accountability and a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 5 years in poultry production, working hands-on
  • Demonstrated experience running or supervising operations on a poultry farm
  • Strong practical know-how in breeder poultry production, plus a sound grasp of flock management and poultry husbandry
  • Knowledge of biosecurity, disease prevention and animal health, along with industry requirements and animal welfare standards
  • Proven ability to supervise, lead and develop the people working on the farm
  • Strong time-management, planning and organisational skills
  • Able to read production information and spot performance issues
  • Strong reporting and communication capabilities
  • Demonstrated practical problem-solving at farm level and a proactive approach to lifting production performance
  • Committed to quality standards, biosecurity and animal welfare
  • Able to show and verify relevant technical capabilities and employment experience
  • Willing to move to NSW
  • Sponsorship is available to the right candidate
