Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of each shift so guests are greeted and served warmly and professionally
- Hand out tasks and direct staff so the floor flows well; step in to back colleagues up in the rush
- Look after the register, sales and correct payment handling
- Watch over espresso, drinks and food output for taste and look, plus preparing and packing coffee products
- Help guests with menu, product and service questions and resolve any complaints calmly
- Inspect front and back areas for hygiene, tidiness and presentation, and keep them in order through the day
- Keep tabs on stock and refill shelves, displays and café supplies
- Carry out opening and closing routines and other daily checklists
- Coach new and existing staff and keep service standards up
- Make sure the café meets food safety, hygiene and health and safety obligations
- Be a professional face of the business with every customer
Requirements & Eligibility
- Background in a café, hospitality, customer service or supervisory role is preferred
- Demonstrated experience helping manage or coordinate a café's daily running
- Hands-on barista and coffee skills are a strong advantage
- A proven record of dependable, consistent, professional service
- Clear communicator with strong people skills
- Leads, supports and collaborates well inside a hospitality team
- Comfortable owning operational tasks and making appropriate decisions independently
- Upbeat and keen to learn and take on extra duties, with a strong work ethic, reliability and professional integrity
- Well presented and professional, able to juggle several duties when customers are queuing
- Knows the requirements for food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety
- Available to work both weekend days or at least one Sunday
- Hospitality experience and employment history that are genuine and can be verified
- Must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment and visa requirements; candidates requiring employer-supported visa sponsorship may be considered
