Carpenter & Cabinet making

Role: Carpenter & Cabinetmaker for construction and renovation work in Western Australia, covering the Karratha, Port Hedland and Pilbara area. Who it suits: a tradesperson with a broad practical skill set whose completed work shows experience across many parts of carpentry, not just one.
The work: varied renovation, installation, fit-out and maintenance projects in different settings, so your existing skills get put to wide use.
Ideal profile: dependable, organised and confident owning your work while cooperating with other trades. A readiness to learn, improve and tackle new challenges is highly valued. Keep your trade certificate, a list of past projects and an English CV ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Renovation carpentry: carpentry across residential and commercial renovation projects, including bathroom renovation and refurbishment
- Kitchens and cabinetry: kitchen installations and cabinetry projects, measuring, cutting, assembling and installing cabinets and timber components
- Fit-outs: residential and commercial fit-outs
- Maintenance and roofing: general carpentry and building maintenance, plus roofing-related carpentry
- External structures: build and install fencing and similar outdoor structures
- Planning the job: read plans, drawings and measurements, then choose suitable materials, tools and methods for each task
- Coordination: work with other trades and project team members, and manage your own tasks to meet agreed project requirements
- Problem-solving: spot site issues and fix them practically
- Workmanship: keep accuracy, finish and workmanship to a high standard
- Safety: keep tools, equipment and work areas organised and safe, following workplace health and safety procedures
- Conduct: behave professionally on customer and commercial sites
- Adaptability: adjust to different projects and changing requirements, and help projects run efficiently with continuous improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of post-apprenticeship carpentry, with proven practical work across several areas of carpentry
- Cabinetry: strong cabinetmaking and kitchen installation experience
- Fit-outs: experience with domestic and commercial fit-outs
- Roofing and fencing: experience will be highly regarded
- Proof: able to demonstrate genuine hands-on trade experience
- Independence and teamwork: confident working without constant supervision and effective alongside other trades and contractors
- Planning: strong organisational and planning skills, good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Attitude: reliable, motivated and professional, and willing to upskill and broaden existing trade capabilities
- Licence: Full Australian driver’s licence
- Tools: own carpentry tools
- Testing: able to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Work rights and sponsorship: valid Australian work rights or eligibility for an appropriate sponsored visa; overseas applicants may be considered for visa sponsorship based on verified trade experience, qualifications and overall suitability
