Position: Full-Time Chef with an expanding hospitality business in Bathurst, in the Central West of NSW. The kitchen turns out Japanese-inspired food.
What the employer is looking for: a chef who can prove real commercial kitchen experience, dependable work habits and the technical skill to produce good food every service. You should arrive with tested skills, stay steady when the kitchen is under pressure and help run a professional service.

Key Responsibilities
- Cook Japanese-inspired dishes to the venue's set quality standards, using the right techniques so every plate comes out the same
- Inspect, prepare and set up ingredients each day so everything is ready before service
- Keep flavour, portion size, presentation and overall food quality under control by following set recipes, procedures and portion controls
- Move between kitchen sections during prep and service, timing the cooking so meals reach guests without delay
- Decide what gets prepared first when the kitchen is handling high volumes
- Put forward ideas for menu changes, seasonal specials and new dishes
- Keep your workstation clean, organised and ready for service
- Track how ingredients are used, report stock needs and help order supplies so the kitchen stays properly stocked
- Apply food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures at all times
- Communicate clearly with other chefs and hospitality staff
- Help maintain a kitchen culture that is positive, disciplined and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a professional kitchen
- A relevant culinary, commercial cookery or equivalent qualification, backed by verifiable evidence of your qualifications and experience
- Proven ability to work in a commercial restaurant setting
- Japanese cuisine experience will be viewed favourably
- Solid practical knowledge of cooking and food preparation, plus an understanding of professional food safety and hygiene practices
- Able to keep standards consistent and pay close attention to detail in busy service
- Strong skills in planning, organisation and managing your time
- Comfortable working without constant supervision while collaborating with the wider kitchen and restaurant team
- A professional attitude focused firmly on reliability and quality, with good communication at work
- Available for rotating shifts that include evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Must satisfy Australian employment and visa eligibility requirements
- Visa sponsorship available for an appropriately qualified and eligible candidate
