Openings: 2 Chefs/Cooks. Location: Parkes, Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. Kitchen: small, experienced and focused on European and modern Australian cuisine at a consistently high standard.
This is a very hands-on job. You will move across kitchen operations and run an allocated section with confidence during service. Your qualifications, practical experience and technical skills need to be clearly shown and able to be verified.
The employer puts genuine skill, checked experience and proven workplace capability ahead of visa sponsorship alone. Cooks in Pakistan should prepare an English CV and have trade certificates ready for verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook European and modern Australian dishes to a high standard, following the kitchen's set recipes, methods and standards
- Take ownership of your allocated section through each service, and help other sections when operations call for it
- Get daily prep done quickly and accurately
- Keep plating, portion sizes and food quality consistent
- Work as one of a four-person kitchen team so busy services run smoothly, including evening, weekend and split-shift services
- Watch stock and ingredient use to reduce food waste
- Meet food hygiene, cleanliness and workplace safety requirements
- Perform reliably and hands-on in a professional kitchen
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or higher, as a relevant trade qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience cooking modern Australian or European cuisine
- Proven work in a fine-dining or quality-focused commercial kitchen
- Chef de Partie or section-level experience is highly regarded
- Strong all-round skills in cooking and food prep
- Can run an allocated section of the kitchen independently
- Proven at keeping food quality high while controlling waste
- Solid understanding of hygiene, food safety and kitchen procedures
- Can work effectively in a small, professional kitchen team
- Available for evening, weekend and split-shift rosters
- Qualifications and employment history must be genuine and verifiable; visa sponsorship available for the right candidate
