Role at a glance: Chef Manager in aged care, New South Wales. A well-established care organisation wants an experienced chef to run its kitchen and lead the team that prepares meals for older residents.

Hours and pay: Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, with a competitive salary of $92,820–$109,200 plus salary packaging benefits, in a supportive workplace driven by purpose.

Key Responsibilities
- Run the kitchen day to day and hold overall accountability for its operation
- Direct the kitchen team so service standards stay consistent, and build a respectful, positive, team-focused workplace
- Train, mentor and support kitchen staff
- Plan, cook and supervise nutritious meals for residents, with menus built around nutritional needs and resident preferences
- Work with care teams on special diets and individual meal needs
- Get meals out on time and at the right quality
- Check preparation, cooking, portion sizes and plating
- Uphold strict food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards and keep the kitchen running safely, efficiently and within relevant regulations
- Handle stock, ordering and food supply
- Help keep food costs under control and cut down on waste
- Keep kitchen records and required paperwork accurate and up to date
- Act on resident feedback and put forward new ideas to improve menus, processes and the dining experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Strong professional track record as a Chef Manager, Head Chef or in another senior culinary role
- Background managing a commercial, institutional or large-scale catering operation
- Proven experience leading a team and supervising staff
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements, plus an understanding of special dietary and nutritional needs
- Able to plan and produce meals that are nutritious, varied and of high quality
- Strong organisational skills and kitchen management ability
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Capable of working on your own as well as collaborating effectively with other teams
- A commitment to keeping resident care and service standards high
- Previous experience in aged care, healthcare, hospitality or large-scale catering is advantageous
