Key Responsibilities
- Section: run your allocated station on your own
- Mise en place: plan and finish the day's prep
- Standards: cook and plate to the kitchen's set quality and presentation benchmarks, consistent across restaurant, event and function services
- Volume: support conference catering and other high-volume food service
- Lunch, dinner and events: cover service as operational needs demand
- Ingredients: control portion sizes, use stock economically, help rotate it and keep wastage down
- Team: cooperate with senior chefs and the rest of the brigade, help junior cooks and keep the mood positive
- Safety: hold food hygiene, safety and cleanliness to a high level and follow workplace health and safety procedures
- Composure: stay organised and effective at peak times
- Stepping up: accept extra duties as your proven capability grows
- Big picture: help the wider kitchen run smoothly
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven background as a Chef de Partie, or equivalent commercial kitchen professional
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
- Able to run and manage a kitchen section independently
- Demonstrated hands-on cooking and food preparation
- Commercial kitchen background spanning varied service settings
- Knows food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements
- Keeps quality and consistency high under pressure
- Strong communicator and team member, with a reliable, professional approach to kitchen duties
- Available for evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
- Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous
- Australian work rights where applicable; candidates requiring sponsorship may be considered on individual eligibility
- Able to provide suitable evidence for qualifications and relevant work experience
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and career progression, and willingness to take on more responsibility based on proven performance
