Chef de Partie

A long-established premium hospitality venue in Southland is filling a full-time Chef de Partie position in Invercargill.

The kitchen is commercial and fast-paced, and dishes are produced across several dining styles. You will cook as part of a seasoned culinary team, keeping food quality, consistency and presentation at a high level and helping the daily kitchen operation run well. The setting is professional, with strong scope for career development.

This role suits a passionate, experienced chef who enjoys pace and variety. As a first step, prepare an English CV that lists each kitchen you have worked in, the cuisines you cooked and your cookery qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook and plate high-quality dishes to set recipes and standards, keeping food quality, presentation and portion control consistent
  • Help run daily kitchen operations and food preparation
  • Support menu preparation and the roll-out of seasonal menus
  • Check food quality and keep kitchen waste to a minimum
  • Stay efficient through busy services and meet deadlines
  • Assist with stock rotation and inventory control
  • Uphold food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards and follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times, keeping the work area clean, organised and safe
  • Cooperate with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues
  • Help with catering, functions and special events as needed

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Level 4 Cookery qualification or an equivalent
  • Prior experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role
  • Experience in a hotel, function or high-volume kitchen is advantageous, and experience with à la carte, fusion or Asian cuisine is an advantage
  • A strong passion for producing high-quality food
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, plus the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive attitude and the flexibility to cover various shifts
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Willingness to relocate to Southland, New Zealand
