Role: Japanese Cuisine Chef with a growing hospitality team in East Melbourne, Victoria. Service style: an operation centred on evening trade.

Key Responsibilities
- Cooking: prepare and cook Japanese dishes to the kitchen's set standards, following established recipes, methods and procedures
- Prep: finish mise en place and food preparation before service, and handle prep tasks efficiently through the evening
- Quality: keep food quality, presentation and portion sizes consistent
- Service support: back up the kitchen team when service is busy
- Hygiene and storage: keep food hygiene and cleanliness standards high, and store and handle ingredients correctly to protect quality
- Organisation: help with stock preparation and keep the kitchen generally organised
- Communication: talk clearly with chefs and other team members, and take instructions, feedback and training positively
- Culture: help keep the kitchen respectful, cooperative and productive
- Reliability: perform consistently and dependably on every scheduled shift
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant Japanese cuisine or professional kitchen experience
- Commercial kitchen: proven experience with practical cooking skills, plus a genuine understanding of Japanese food preparation and kitchen operations
- Pace: able to work effectively in a fast-paced service environment, staying calm and organised under pressure
- Reliability: strong attendance, dependability and personal accountability
- Attitude: professional, with good workplace discipline
- Teamwork: respectful communication and strong team-working ability
- Learning: a positive approach to professional development and a willingness to undertake training and adapt to workplace requirements
- Career: demonstrated commitment to a stable, long-term hospitality career
- Work rights: valid Australian work rights required
