Key Responsibilities

  • Cook quality bistro-style meals to a consistent standard, keeping that standard steady through busy services
  • Own food quality from prep to the final plate, checking dishes at every stage of preparation, cooking and presentation
  • Suggest ideas for menus, new dishes and weekly specials
  • Plan food needs, help estimate food and labour costs, and order and manage supplies
  • Use the right cooking methods and professional techniques
  • Coordinate prep with managers and with kitchen and service staff
  • Show colleagues cooking techniques, help them with kitchen procedures and support training of the kitchen team when required
  • Keep food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards high and make sure kitchen practice complies with hygiene requirements
  • Handle food storage, preservation and freezing where applicable
  • Keep your station and the wider kitchen organised and efficient
  • Work well as part of a busy, collaborative team
  • Help keep the workplace positive, respectful and inclusive

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 1 year of professional Chef experience, gained in a commercial kitchen
  • Proven ability to prepare and cook good-quality food, with sound practical cooking and prep skills
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety practices
  • Able to keep food quality consistent when service is busy
  • Confident working within a team
  • Strong communication and coordination at work
  • Able to follow set kitchen standards and procedures
  • A creative approach to weekly specials and menu ideas
  • A professional attitude and a dependable work ethic
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality setting
  • Hospitality work experience that is genuine and verifiable, plus willingness to provide supporting evidence of it where required
  • Eligible candidates may be considered for employer sponsorship
