A hospitality business in Griffith, in the Riverina region of New South Wales, needs a Qualified Chef for its professional kitchen team. The kitchen covers a varied food and events operation: à la carte dining, weddings, corporate functions and other events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run your allocated section from the first prep tasks through to the end of service
  • Cook for à la carte menus as well as weddings, corporate and private functions
  • Carry out mise en place in line with each day's production needs, following recipes, prep standards and set kitchen procedures
  • Keep quality, presentation and portion control consistent on every plate
  • Adjust to changing service volumes and kitchen demands
  • Uphold food safety, hygiene and cleanliness, keeping your workstation tidy and ready for service
  • Check stock levels, rotate stock and label, store and handle ingredients properly
  • Reduce food waste through careful prep and stock management
  • Communicate clearly with fellow chefs and kitchen staff, helping service run smoothly when it gets busy
  • Pass on practical know-how to junior team members when needed
  • Pick up extra kitchen duties that match your experience

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Relevant commercial kitchen experience at Demi Chef, Chef de Partie or Sous Chef level, showing progression in responsibility in professional kitchens
  • Able to run a designated section independently
  • Experience cooking and serving à la carte, and preparing food for functions and events
  • Able to hold consistent standards under high-pressure service
  • Knowledge of commercial food safety and hygiene practices
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliable attendance, professional work habits and a strong work ethic, with a willingness to contribute to the team
  • Available to work weekends as required
  • Current driver's licence
  • Genuine, verifiable qualifications and employment history, with appropriate evidence of previous culinary experience
  • Sponsorship is available for suitable candidates
