Position: Full-Time Brunch Chef. Workplace: a busy Spring Hill café in Brisbane, Queensland.
The café is after an experienced cook with strong skills, dependability and enough confidence to own their part of a professional kitchen. Daytime trade is heavy, so prep, plating, hygiene and kitchen organisation must hold up all day.
You will help the kitchen run without hiccups, back up your colleagues and see that every breakfast and brunch plate is done well, every time. The café wants a person who can prove what they have done and what they can do, and who is ready to add to an established team while growing their career. Chefs in Pakistan should prepare an English CV showing each kitchen role and its dates.
Key Responsibilities
- Turn out breakfast and brunch plates of a high standard every day, showing solid practical skill through each service
- Keep portions, plating and food quality the same from plate to plate
- Own kitchen prep and service requirements, handling tasks efficiently when volumes peak
- Keep up food safety, hygiene and cleanliness so the kitchen is tidy and set for each service
- Work confidently alone or as part of the team
- Help train and develop newer kitchen staff, giving hands-on direction while service runs
- Partner with the Head Chef/Owner to protect kitchen standards
- Help build a positive, professional workplace culture
Requirements & Eligibility
- Has worked professionally as a Chef, with a proven record
- Café, brunch or breakfast experience is highly regarded
- Strong hands-on cooking and prep skills, with a demonstrated ability to keep quality up in busy service
- Ready to own kitchen responsibilities
- Has trained or mentored kitchen staff before, and has strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Dependable, punctual and organised, with a positive, professional outlook
- Good people and communication skills
- Solid knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene, with high standards for cleanliness and the way food is presented
- Knowing or having cooked Asian cuisine is an advantage
- Available for the required Monday-to-Friday daytime roster
- Relevant experience and skills must be ones you can demonstrate and that can be verified
- Sponsorship is on offer for a candidate with appropriate qualifications and experience
