The opening: a hospitality operator in Queensland needs an experienced Chef to help launch a new restaurant in West End, Brisbane. Practical skill, dependability and kitchen leadership are central to the role.
The right person: a proven culinary professional with solid commercial kitchen experience, steady food preparation standards and a team-first approach. If you have real hands-on experience and can take ownership in a busy kitchen, you are encouraged to apply.
Pay and terms: full-time, $70,000–$80,000 per annum plus superannuation.

Key Responsibilities
- Cook and plate menu items to the required recipes and standards, with flavour, presentation and portions kept consistent
- Run food preparation and service procedures efficiently, and coordinate the kitchen when trading is busy
- Contribute to menu development and improving recipes
- Train and supervise junior members of the kitchen team
- Make sure kitchen practices meet food safety requirements and that the workplace stays clean and safe
- Keep an eye on stock usage and work out what needs to be ordered
- Help with stock rotation and cutting down waste
- Support cost control and efficient kitchen operations
- Communicate clearly with the rest of the kitchen and front-of-house staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 3 years of professional Chef experience
- Relevant cookery qualification is preferred
- Demonstrated hands-on work in a commercial kitchen
- Sound understanding of cooking and food preparation procedures
- Knowledge of food safety as well as workplace health and safety requirements
- Able to juggle competing priorities in the kitchen and keep quality up during high-volume service
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A dependable, committed attitude to work
- Experience with Mexican cuisine is advantageous
- Able to undertake interstate training when required
- Sponsorship consideration available for suitably qualified applicants
