Role: Sous Chef with a reputable hospitality operation in Wurtulla, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. The employer wants proven kitchen capability, steady leadership and a firm commitment to quality.
This is a step up for a chef ready to carry more responsibility in a professional kitchen. Your fit will be judged on practical experience, trade qualifications, leadership and how consistently you perform in a busy service. You will work alongside the Head Chef to coordinate the kitchen, support the culinary team, protect food standards and help develop the venue's food operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Help the Head Chef run daily kitchen operations, and take charge when the Head Chef is absent
- Coordinate preparation and service so the workflow stays efficient
- Lead the team through busy trading periods, supervising staff and making sure duties are clearly allocated
- Hold food quality, presentation, flavour and portion control to a consistent standard
- Contribute to menu planning, seasonal offerings, specials and creative menu improvements
- Monitor stock and assist with purchasing and supplier orders
- Help control food costs and cut unnecessary waste
- Make sure food is stored, prepared and handled to the required standards, and uphold HACCP, food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures
- Train, guide and mentor kitchen staff who are still developing
- Keep an eye on kitchen cleanliness, organisation and how equipment is used
- Work with management and front-of-house staff, and help keep the team respectful, accountable and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or similar senior kitchen professional
- A formal qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Strong background in hospitality or commercial kitchen operations
- Demonstrated experience leading and supervising teams in a kitchen, and confidence managing high-volume service
- Strong practical knowledge of preparing and presenting food
- Understanding of HACCP, food safety and food hygiene requirements
- Strong organisation and time management, with effective leadership and communication
- Stays calm and organised under the pressure of service
- Reliable, proactive and hands-on, with a strong commitment to quality and consistency
- Willing to take responsibility and contribute to continuous improvement
- Able to provide evidence supporting your relevant qualifications and professional experience
- Australian working rights or eligibility for employer sponsorship; sponsorship is available for a suitable and verified candidate
