Climbing Arborist

Whakatane, Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand: an established tree care operation is recruiting two Climbing Arborists.
Selection: the aim is placing the right people on the right work, so your qualifications, practical experience and technical ability carry real weight.
Scope of work: residential, rural and commercial sites, from routine care and reductions to technical removals and larger projects.
Team standards: quality workmanship, safe planning and keeping established trees and vegetation wherever practical.
Applicants in Pakistan should prepare an English résumé listing their qualifications and climbing experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out professional climbing arborist work on residential, rural and commercial properties
- Prune trees, complete reductions and handle technical removals
- Deliver large-scale commercial tree care projects alongside rural and residential arboricultural jobs
- Select climbing, rigging and dismantling methods to suit each site and tree
- Manage ground-based tree work and aerial operations safely
- Run specialist arboricultural equipment and machinery as required
- Assess conditions on site and follow planned work and safety procedures, taking care around infrastructure, buildings, retained vegetation and other assets
- Protect vegetation and retain trees wherever reasonably possible
- Keep PPE, climbing gear, machinery and tools to a professional standard
- Work with the ground crew and other arborists to finish jobs efficiently
- Take part in paid training and ongoing skills development, and respond to callout and emergency tree work when required
- Keep safety, quality and reliability standards consistent
Requirements & Eligibility
- Level 3 or Level 4 Arboriculture qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Proven climbing arborist experience, with competent tree work and aerial climbing skills
- Practical experience with technical removals and rigging
- Able to run climbing operations independently on suitable jobs
- Strong understanding of safe work practices in arboriculture
- Class 1 driver's licence essential
- Class 2 or heavy transport licence advantageous
- Physically capable of demanding tree work outdoors
- Honest, reliable and professional, with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willing to complete further arboricultural training where required
- Overseas candidates with relevant qualifications and experience that can be verified are welcome, with sponsorship available for suitable overseas applicants
- Must meet relevant New Zealand employer and work visa requirements
