CNC Operator /Craftsman

Role: CNC Joiner / Cabinetmaker for a modern production workshop in Petone, Wellington, for someone who wants to keep growing as a specialist.
Products: plywood kitchens, cabinetry and furniture, made by blending traditional joinery with CNC production and Lean manufacturing systems.
What counts: qualifications and years on paper are only part of it. A strong trade career rests on accuracy, consistency, accountability and quality work delivered day after day. The ideal person is hands-on, dependable, curious and eager to master the craft.
Experience from anywhere: skills gained overseas or in New Zealand are both fine, provided you can show genuine ability and the right work attitude.

Key Responsibilities
- Run CNC machines to produce cabinetry and furniture, and grow your knowledge of CNC equipment and production systems
- Set up and machine parts precisely to specification
- Assemble cabinets and furniture and complete the finishing
- Check finished work for accuracy and quality, keeping workmanship consistent through every production stage
- Spot production problems and help solve them
- Help with installations when required
- Keep the workshop tidy, organised and efficient
- Stick to the set production, quality and safety procedures
- Put Lean manufacturing and 3S principles into practice, finding ways to improve processes and cut unnecessary waste
- Work well within the production team, supporting high productivity and workmanship standards
- Own your assigned tasks and finish them to the required standard
- Join training and continuous-improvement activities
Requirements & Eligibility
- Practical experience in joinery, cabinetmaking, CNC machining or furniture manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to turn out accurate, high-quality work, with strong attention to detail
- Dependable and consistent at work
- Good practical and problem-solving skills
- Can work with limited supervision
- Willing to learn new equipment, processes and systems, and positive about feedback and professional development
- Strong personal accountability and sense of responsibility
- HOMAG, WoodWOP, IMOS or other CNC experience is advantageous
- Overseas trade experience is welcome; New Zealand trade experience is not mandatory
- Current New Zealand manual driver's licence
- Able to drive a long-wheelbase manual van
- Willing to complete required Lean training before a practical trial
- Eligible overseas applicants may be considered for visa sponsorship
