CNC Press Brake / Turret Operator

Selwyn, Canterbury: a Press Shop Team Member is needed to work on advanced CNC manufacturing equipment, bringing practical Press Brake and/or Turret experience. The opening is aimed at skilled sheet-metal workers with real industry experience who want to move their CNC skills into a long-term position in New Zealand.

How candidates are assessed: verifiable work history, hands-on ability and the skills you can show carry more weight than qualifications or job titles alone. In short, let your experience do the talking. Applicants from Pakistan should prepare an English CV that gives the dates and duties of each sheet-metal job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read technical drawings, work orders and production instructions before starting each job
  • Set up the machines and choose suitable operating parameters, then run Press Brake and/or Turret CNC equipment in production
  • Form, bend and straighten sheet-metal parts so they meet the specified dimensions and tolerances
  • Check finished components for the required quality and accuracy, adjusting the machine as needed to keep output consistent
  • Keep track of production performance and cut down on wasted material
  • Finish allocated work in line with production and delivery schedules
  • Raise any problems with equipment, materials or quality
  • Stick to every manufacturing, quality and workplace safety procedure
  • Keep machines and the work area tidy and in order
  • Talk clearly with supervisors and fellow production staff, helping the Press Shop run efficiently each day

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Hands-on background on Press Brake and/or Turret machinery that you can prove
  • Earlier work in manufacturing or sheet-metal fabrication
  • Practical experience operating and/or setting up CNC machines
  • Can read technical drawings and follow production specifications, and knows how sheet metal is formed and bent
  • Careful about accuracy and quality, as shown in past work
  • Works efficiently where production output is the focus
  • Safety-aware and dependable at work
  • Communicates well and is a good team player
  • Willing to work night shifts, Monday to Friday
  • Can supply a verifiable employment history and relevant experience
  • Overseas applicants must satisfy the New Zealand employment and visa requirements that apply
