Coded Welder

Role: a Coded Welder for long-term work in WA, based around Kwinana in Perth. Expect tough industrial maintenance as well as fabrication.
Where your time will go:
- maintaining fixed plant
- structural fab work
- repair jobs and plant modifications
- shutdown periods and breakdown callouts
Who the employer wants: a tradesperson able to prove genuine time on the tools, hold qualifications that are recognised, and weld to coded standards. Applicants who bring a solid employment record plus documents showing their fabrication and welding background are encouraged to put their hand up.
Keep in mind that the listing offers sponsorship to eligible candidates already onshore. Have an English CV and copies of your trade papers organised either way.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce coded welds on pressure pipe and structural steel, including 6G work, and fabricate everything to the standards set
- Modify and fix fixed plant such as thickeners, pumps and similar industrial machinery
- Build and mend piping, tanks, chutes, hoppers and ductwork
- Replace components that are worn out or broken, and repair structural supports
- Follow technical specs and engineering drawings on every job
- Handle planned preventative maintenance, and pitch in on breakdowns and corrective tasks
- Take part in plant shutdowns and programmed maintenance campaigns
- Fabricate in a workshop setting and on site
- Deliver work that is precise, safe and high quality from start to finish
- Stick to the site's safety rules and all applicable welding standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated background working as a Coded Welder, backed by solid hands-on fabrication and welding skills
- Can pass a 6G weld test
- Cert III Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering Trade qualification
- Fixed plant maintenance experience is highly desirable
- A verifiable work history in fabrication and welding
- Holds a current Working at Heights certification
- Holds a current Confined Space certification
- Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications gained within the previous 2 years
- Holds a current driver's licence
- Can pass a medical before starting employment
- Can show proof of trade experience and qualifications
