Position: Cook, full-time, with a hospitality operation in Cervantes, in the Northam & Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

What the employer needs: a capable cook with proven commercial kitchen experience, practical skill and a dependable work style.

Scope of the job: responsibility right across the kitchen, covering ingredient prep, cooking, plating, stock handling and keeping the work area clean and efficient. You will be part of an experienced culinary team that puts weight on consistency, teamwork and detail.

Hours pattern: the business mainly runs lunch service, so most evenings are free. Availability on weekends and public holidays is expected, and occasional functions may need extra availability. Key Responsibilities

  • Get ingredients and food items prepared for the day's kitchen operations
  • Cook menu items on suitable commercial kitchen equipment, coordinating prep and cooking so service runs efficiently
  • Help plate and present finished dishes, holding food quality and presentation to a consistent standard
  • Assist with preparing group meals when required
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff, supporting the team through busy, high-pressure service
  • Keep watch on kitchen stock and help with inventory control
  • Receive, label, store and rotate food products correctly, and take practical steps to cut food waste
  • Keep the kitchen hygienic, orderly and well presented
  • Carry out the required opening and closing procedures
  • Comply with food safety and workplace hygiene requirements

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial cooking experience
  • Practical knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation
  • Able to demonstrate verifiable, genuine work experience
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, maintaining efficiency and quality under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A reliable, consistent approach to workplace responsibilities and a professional, positive attitude
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willing to work weekends and public holidays, and available for occasional functions when required
  • Able to satisfy relevant sponsorship requirements where applicable
