Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker

Role: Crusher Fitter / Boilermaker, full-time, with a specialist equipment services business.
You will need strong practical skills in mechanical and hydraulic work and in plant upkeep, and your trade history must be supported by your qualifications and past employment.
Day to day, you will work on crushing and processing plant and quarry and mining machinery: maintaining it, diagnosing faults, repairing it and servicing it on site. Work is split between the workshop and client locations in city, regional and remote areas. Tradespeople from Pakistan and other countries should prepare an English CV, and a police character certificate if one is requested.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep mobile and fixed crushing and processing plant in working order through servicing, mechanical repair and preventative work
- Pinpoint equipment faults and work out the repairs required
- Trace hydraulic problems using manuals, schematics and technical data, and test hydraulic pressure and flow
- Fault-find 12V and 24V electrical control systems, using electrical drawings and checking voltage and continuity
- Inspect machines and get them ready before delivery
- Follow OEM specifications and the approved maintenance procedures
- Travel out to clients in city, regional and remote areas to service plant and provide technical support, including trips to regional sites when required
- Note the condition of equipment and advise on remedial work needed
- Produce technical service and condition reports
- Log every inspection, repair, setting and test accurately
- Take photos to record finished maintenance and repair jobs
- Speak to customers directly about faults found and jobs done
- Follow safe work practices in the workshop and in the field
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking or a comparable mechanical trade
- At least 2 years of post-training experience in the industry
- Proven work on quarry or mining fixed plant, and relevant practical experience with crushing and processing machinery
- Demonstrable background in mechanical repair and maintenance
- Practical understanding of hydraulic systems and hydraulic fault diagnosis
- Can read and make sense of hydraulic schematics and electrical schematics
- Can carry out basic electrical tests on 12V and 24V systems
- Previous trade employment and experience that you can demonstrate and verify
- Full unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
- HR Licence is desirable
- Forklift Licence is desirable
- Physically fit for manual, field-based work
- Prepared to work in metropolitan, regional and remote locations
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screening
- Strong mechanical problem-solving
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Good customer service and communication, and a professional manner with clients and site crews
