Multiple Queensland workshops have openings for Diesel and Truck Mechanics. Ideal applicants built their ability through plenty of practical work and have a strong, provable history with diesel systems and heavy vehicles.
The aim is a good match between each mechanic and a workshop where their technical background, qualifications and hands-on capability are relevant. Candidates who have worked in the Australian industry are encouraged to apply, and eligible people can be sponsored where required.
Mechanics applying from Pakistan should prepare an English CV and records that confirm their trade qualification and work history.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service and repair heavy vehicles and trucks
- Work out the cause of engine, mechanical and associated faults, using methodical fault-finding with the right diagnostic tools and methods
- Overhaul and maintain diesel engines and heavy vehicle parts
- Check and fix suspension and brakes, and service and repair trailers and their parts
- Pick out worn, damaged or defective components and advise on suitable repairs
- Complete allocated jobs to a professional standard
- Keep job cards and servicing paperwork accurate
- Do preventative maintenance to keep vehicle downtime low
- Stick to workshop safety rules and manufacturer requirements, cooperating with fellow mechanics and workshop staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience
- Trade qualification relevant to Diesel, Heavy Vehicle or Truck Mechanics
- Proven hands-on work on trucks or vehicles powered by diesel
- Background with diesel engines, trailers, and suspension and brake systems, plus a strong practical grasp of how heavy vehicle mechanical systems work
- Sharp diagnostic and fault-finding ability; can pinpoint problems and repair them accurately
- Can supply evidence of relevant qualifications and work experience
- Detail-focused, with workmanship centred on quality
- Safe and efficient in a professional workshop
- Highly regarded: Australian mechanical experience
