Port Adelaide, South Australia: an established Australian infrastructure business needs a Directional Driller or Directional Drill Tracker.

What counts: experience you can prove through real project exposure, practical HDD skills and a dependable work record. The employer looks past job titles to what you have actually done, how you work and the standards you keep on site.

The work: a range of projects where safe decisions, technical knowledge and consistent workmanship are essential. A background in service locating is also welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and track horizontal directional drilling equipment on HDD jobs across utility and infrastructure projects
  • Read project requirements and drill to approved procedures
  • Track drilling progress and keep the site running efficiently
  • Assist with underground utility identification and service locating when needed
  • Work on gas, sewer, water, communications and power projects
  • Hold strict quality and safety standards on every job, in line with project systems, workplace procedures and compliance requirements
  • Keep project and operational records accurate
  • Check and care for drilling equipment, reporting faults without delay
  • Cooperate with supervisors, drilling crews and other site staff, communicating clearly and professionally
  • Spot potential safety or operational issues and respond appropriately
  • Deliver workmanship of a consistent standard from one project to the next
  • Contribute to a workplace that is organised, professional and focused on safety

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated professional experience in drill tracking or directional drilling, with strong hands-on experience in horizontal directional drilling operations
  • Able to provide evidence of previous HDD experience and employment
  • Relevant accreditations, licences or industry qualifications
  • Service locating experience is advantageous
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety at work, and a professional approach to compliance, safety and quality
  • A consistent and reliable employment background
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work well within a professional site team
  • Close attention to detail
  • A dependable attitude and strong work ethic
  • Able to follow structured documentation requirements, procedures and systems, and to adapt to different working environments and project requirements
  • Overseas candidates with demonstrable, relevant HDD experience are encouraged to apply
  • Willing to relocate to Australia for long-term employment
