Openings: Drainlayers, Drainage Operators, Drainage Labourers, 20T Excavator Operators and Multi-Skilled Operators with Class 4, placed with civil construction crews in Otago, New Zealand.
Projects: sizeable infrastructure jobs spanning drainage, wastewater, stormwater, utilities, earthworks, roading and general civil construction. Tasks change from week to week, which suits people who prefer tackling hands-on challenges over repetitive work.

Key Responsibilities
- Lay new stormwater and sewer lines and keep existing ones working, covering both gravity and pressure networks
- Install pipework together with its associated civil structures
- Take part in wastewater pump station and treatment facility projects, including water treatment installations
- Drive 20T excavators safely, and use loaders, compactors and any other plant the site calls for
- Prepare ground through excavation, trenching and backfilling
- Weld PE pipe where needed and carry out confined-space tasks once approved
- Install telecommunications and power utility assets
- Pour, form and finish concrete
- Restore sites after works, including landscaping
- Work from project specifications and deliver to them, keeping output up while holding the required quality
- Raise site issues early and suggest workable fixes
- Coordinate with drainlayers, operators, supervisors and the rest of the site crew
- Apply health, safety and environmental procedures, limiting avoidable effects on the environment and local community
- Look after plant, work areas and sites so they stay at an acceptable standard
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated background in drainage, civil construction or a closely related field
- Relevant on-the-tools experience as a Drainlayer, Drainage Operator, Excavator Operator or Drainage Labourer
- Proven track record operating construction machinery, where applicable
- Holds a current and clean Class 2 driver's licence
- Class 4 licence advantageous; WTR endorsement advantageous
- Excavator, loader, compactor or other heavy machinery operating experience advantageous
- Solid practical and technical grasp of construction, and dedication to quality workmanship
- Demonstrated dependability and a professional approach to work
- Can adjust to varied projects and duties
- Works well in a team, communicates strongly and solves practical problems
- Puts safety first in every site activity
- Can keep working steadily in a physically demanding construction setting
- Prepared to relocate to Otago, New Zealand
- Candidates must have valid New Zealand work rights or meet the requirements for employer-supported visa sponsorship
