A rooftop bar in central Christchurch, New Zealand is recruiting a Duty Manager. Here is the role in order.
First, the venue. It is in its sixth year, trades Tuesday to Sunday and provides full table service with a sharing-plate and seasonal menu. Monday is used for functions, cocktail competitions, staff training and venue presentation.
Second, the terms. The position is permanent and full-time with a 30-hour minimum contract, rotating closing shifts and evening and weekend work. Friday and Saturday evenings are compulsory. The rate is $28 to $32 per hour, and starts are immediate.
Third, the outlook. The employer is building a small, strong team and provides consistent training and development for people who commit to hospitality. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Greet arrivals, manage reservations and enquiries, take orders, upsell and process payments
- Lead the team from the front and ensure customer satisfaction
- Act as point of contact for all functions
- Monitor front-of-house costs, overheads and roster against KPIs and targets
- Run front-of-house training sessions
- Maintain a positive workplace environment and team culture
- Complete stock ordering and the monthly stocktake
- Carry out standard opening and closing procedures in a safe, healthy environment, adhering to all legal obligations
- Participate in developing new menus (drinks, recipes, costings, marketing)
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum of three years working in bars
- High-volume cocktail service experience
- Valid LCQ
- Current Duty Managers Certificate
- Warm, welcoming personality and positive attitude
- Drive to succeed, ambition to grow and develop, and passion for the industry
- Commitment to evening and weekend work; Friday and Saturday evenings are non negotiable
