Electrical Estimator & Industrial Electrician

Two roles are open at a well-established electrical engineering and contracting business that is expanding its team in Albury, NSW.

  • Electrical Estimators handle pricing, tenders and cost analysis.
  • Industrial Electricians build, install, test and maintain electrical systems in the workshop and on site.

Both suit experienced people ready to take their careers further. Projects are technically varied and span commercial, industrial and infrastructure settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical Estimator
  • Build detailed estimates and tender prices for electrical projects, then put together tender submissions that are accurate and commercially competitive
  • Work through project scopes, drawings, specifications and other technical documentation
  • Break down what labour, materials and subcontractors will cost, and gather and compare quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Spot cost-saving opportunities, exclusions and potential risks on each project
  • Contribute to value engineering, cost planning and project budgets
  • Deal with clients, suppliers, project managers and engineers throughout estimating
  • Hand projects over smoothly to delivery teams, and keep tender information, estimates and pricing records accurate
  • Industrial Electrician
  • Wire, assemble and install electrical control panels and switchboards
  • Carry out industrial electrical installations on site and in the workshop, installing and working on industrial control and electrical systems
  • Before commissioning, test equipment and installations; then handle start-up and commissioning activities where required
  • Diagnose faults in electrical systems and repair them, as well as completing planned preventative maintenance
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical drawings
  • Where applicable, assist on automation, PLC and MCC electrical work
  • Check that completed work complies with project specifications and Australian Standards
  • Observe every environmental, health and safety requirement in the workplace
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers and other trades to finish projects efficiently

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Electrical Estimator
  • Demonstrated experience in either electrical project work or electrical estimating
  • Solid knowledge of installations, electrical systems and industry practice; can interpret electrical specifications and drawings
  • A track record preparing tender submissions and project estimates, and an understanding of how subcontractor, labour and material costs are worked out
  • Electrical trade experience or a qualification is advantageous
  • Experience using project management and estimating software is highly regarded
  • Detail-focused, with strong numerical ability
  • Problem-solving skills and good commercial awareness
  • Communicates clearly with project teams, suppliers and clients
  • Industrial Electrician
  • Recognised electrical trade qualification
  • Current Australian Electrical Licence, or eligible to obtain the appropriate Australian licence
  • Demonstrated industrial electrical experience, with hands-on work on control panels, switchboards and electrical installations
  • Strong skills in diagnosis and fault-finding, and able to read electrical schematics and technical drawings with confidence
  • Current driver's licence
  • Experience with PLCs, MCCs, automation or industrial control systems is advantageous
  • Commissioning experience is highly regarded
  • Equally effective working alone or in a team
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and professional standards
