Electrical Field Service Technician

Regents Park, Sydney: an Australian technical service business is hiring an Electrician / Electrical Field Service Technician to look after customers running commercial catering and foodservice equipment.
Who it suits: an electrician happy to go beyond routine installs, someone who likes digging into electrical problems, working out why a machine failed and putting a reliable fix in place on the customer's site.
Scope: many kinds of commercial equipment, mixing field service with diagnostics, testing, repairs, commissioning and technical support.
Development: specialised Australian industry experience gained alongside a professional service team.

Key Responsibilities
- Service and repair the electrical side of commercial foodservice and catering equipment
- Investigate failed equipment with systematic diagnostics and troubleshooting to pinpoint electrical faults
- Check circuits and components with electrical testing instruments
- Replace or repair faulty electrical components
- Make wiring changes and equipment modifications where appropriately licensed
- Attend customer sites for scheduled servicing and breakdown repairs, testing equipment afterwards to confirm it runs safely
- Commission and install new commercial equipment
- Support customers and other service staff technically, including troubleshooting enquiries by email and telephone
- Help with service-related investigations and warranty assessments
- Own each service job from initial diagnosis until it is complete
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to solve technical issues, sourcing and organising the spare parts and components each repair needs
- Help with electrical preparation and equipment assembly, and contribute to warehouse and workshop operations when required
- Keep clear records of service work completed, repairs made and parts used
- Build professional relationships with customers as a representative of the service team
- Follow established workplace procedures and electrical safety requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification in the electrical field
- Relevant electrical licence, or eligible to obtain the licensing required
- Proven practical skill in diagnostics and electrical fault finding, and able to diagnose and resolve technical faults independently
- Strong understanding of components, controls, wiring and electrical circuits
- Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing electrical equipment, including appliance, electro-mechanical, industrial or commercial equipment
- Commercial kitchen or foodservice equipment experience is advantageous
- Previous experience as a mobile technician or in field service is highly regarded
- Strong practical problem-solving and analytical skills
- Professional customer service and communication capabilities, and able to work effectively with manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and technicians
- Good job-management and organisation skills, with a reliable approach and close attention to quality and safety
- Gas-related experience or licensing is advantageous
- Forklift experience or licence is advantageous
- Current Australian driver's licence or equivalent
- Able to provide genuine evidence supporting your qualifications and relevant work experience
