Fire Technician / Carpenter

Day to day you will move between sites doing a blend of servicing, maintenance and construction. Typical tasks include fire-rated door work, penetration sealing, fire stopping and other passive systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit new or replacement fire-rated doors and door sets; fix and adjust fire doors already in place
  • Do maintenance on fire doors, including works linked to compliance
  • Seal penetrations, carry out fire stopping and put in passive fire penetration protection systems
  • Rectify defects, along with any carpentry they involve
  • Look after programmed servicing and maintenance, and support new-build and installation projects
  • Follow plans, drawings, specs and the installer's instructions
  • Work to Australian Standards and what each manufacturer requires
  • Inspect your own finished jobs to confirm quality and compliance
  • Record completed jobs and site details accurately
  • Work safely in line with health and safety procedures
  • Keep clients, supervisors and project teams informed
  • Stay productive whether the site is commercial, residential or industrial

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated practical experience in fire doors, fire protection, carpentry or a closely linked trade
  • Genuine proof of your earlier jobs and trade background
  • Solid hands-on ability, a careful eye for detail and knowledge of what quality and compliance demand
  • Can recognise issues and apply workable fixes
  • Can read and follow plans, specifications and technical instructions
  • Works well alone or within a professional crew
  • Dependable and responsible, with professional, client-facing communication
  • Current Australian driver's licence, or able to get one where applicable
  • Construction White Card
  • Carpentry or another relevant trade qualification is highly regarded
  • Past work in fire doors or passive fire protection is highly regarded
  • Meets whatever sponsorship and visa eligibility requirements apply
