Who is this for? Qualified Fitters with proven hands-on time in heavy industrial, workshop or site-based maintenance. The employer is an engineering and maintenance business in Western Australia that services industrial plant at its own premises and for clients, and the vacancy is permanent.

Expect a practical, mixed workload: mechanical servicing, overhauls, hydraulics and pneumatics, troubleshooting faults and capital improvement work. Industry depends on people who keep critical machinery running, fixed and getting better.

Overseas candidates are judged on how well their checked qualifications and job history fit the role, and eligible people may be considered for employer-sponsored visa pathways. Longer term, there is scope to settle into a permanent position, deepen technical ability and move towards leadership. Key Responsibilities

  • Keep industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in working order through maintenance, repairs and full overhauls
  • Handle fixed plant, mobile equipment and the mechanical systems linked to them
  • Fit and assemble components on the workshop floor and on customer sites
  • Study drawings, specs and technical documentation, then decide which materials, tools and methods suit the task
  • Examine components for wear, damage or defects, measuring to confirm dimensions, tolerances, alignment and fit
  • Shape and modify metal components through cutting, grinding, pressing and forming
  • Look after hydraulic and pneumatic pipework and fluid power systems, including threading, bending and cutting pipe
  • Diagnose mechanical faults when equipment plays up, handling both scheduled preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Take part in machinery refurbishment and rebuilds, equipment improvement programs, sustainable capital works and mechanical upgrade projects
  • Write up what maintenance reveals and share the relevant technical details
  • Follow set procedures and Zero Harm principles so every job is done safely
  • Liaise with supervisors, fellow tradespeople and site personnel to finish work efficiently and to a professional standard of workmanship

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 5 years in relevant mechanical fitting work
  • A recognised Fitting and Turning trade qualification, or another mechanical trade qualification of equal standing
  • Experience gained in heavy industry, industrial workshops, manufacturing or site-based maintenance, including proven hands-on repair and upkeep of mechanical equipment
  • Exposure to fixed plant, mobile equipment, or hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Comfortable interpreting mechanical drawings and technical specs
  • Strong fault-finding and mechanical troubleshooting skills, and confident use of precision measuring instruments and mechanical tools
  • A demonstrable, verifiable work history relevant to this position, plus evidence backing your qualifications and practical trade experience
  • Solid grasp of workplace health and safety requirements, and commitment to a safety-focused, Zero Harm environment
  • Works independently and contributes effectively within a professional team
  • Having led, mentored or supervised others before is advantageous
  • Hold a current driver's licence
  • Can successfully complete a pre-employment medical and satisfy fitness-for-work requirements
  • Prepared to work across workshop and client-site settings in Western Australia
  • Internationally based applicants holding suitable qualifications and verified experience may be considered for 482 or 494 visa sponsorship or a visa transfer
