Mackay, Queensland: a flooring installation business that keeps growing wants two experienced Floor Layers to join its crew.
Project mix: homes, retail spaces, commercial premises and new builds, with plenty of vinyl and carpet installation to put your skills to use. The pipeline of work is steady.
Selection point: the employer hires on proof. Your past jobs should clearly show dependable, hands-on trade ability.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess each area on site and take precise measurements
- Read plans to work out the flooring materials required
- Strip existing coverings and prepare subfloors the right way
- Lay broadloom carpet: underlay, gripper, seaming and stretching
- Fit carpet tiles at both homes and commercial sites
- Install luxury vinyl plank floors
- Cut, fit and finish every material with precision, and add edge finishes, thresholds and trims
- Fix defects and complete rectification jobs where required
- Keep workmanship at a high level from start to finish of each job
- Keep the work vehicle, tools and site organised and safe
- Cooperate with builders, customers and other trades
- Comply with Australian flooring installation and workplace safety requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the trade as a Floor Layer
- Demonstrated hands-on work with vinyl plank and/or broadloom carpet
- Strong grasp of how subfloors are prepared
- Accurate measuring skills and the ability to read and follow plans
- Proven capacity to deliver professional-quality flooring installations
- Current driver's licence and current construction White Card, held before your start date
- Good communication skills and confidence facing customers
- Reliable and physically fit for flooring work
- Comfortable working alone or within an installation crew
- Commercial sheet vinyl background (wall vinyl, coving and welding) is highly regarded
- Advanced floor preparation skills, and engineered timber or floating floor installation experience, are highly regarded
- Suitably skilled overseas candidates whose relevant experience can be verified may be eligible for visa sponsorship
