Open trades: Formwork Carpenters, Concreters, Steel Fixers, Leading Hands and Trade Assistants.
How applicants are judged: on real trade ability, reliability, safety awareness and how well they perform on demanding sites. Your past jobs, duties and projects must clearly prove the experience you claim.
Tip for applicants from Pakistan and other countries: keep employment letters and trade documents organised, and prepare an English CV that lists each project you worked on.
Key Responsibilities
- Build formwork that matches the project specifications
- Place, pour and finish concrete
- Fix reinforcement and steel components firmly in place, and back up Form, Reo, Pour and related civil tasks
- Read drawings and carry out directions from supervisors and site managers
- Set up the work area, materials and gear before any job starts
- Operate hand tools, power tools and construction machinery in a safe manner
- Follow site safety rules, keep the workplace safe, and flag hazards to the right person without delay
- Hold every assigned task to the required quality standard
- Coordinate with crews from other trades on site
- Finish allocated work inside project deadlines
- Take on extra civil construction tasks as the project demands
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current White Card
- At least 3 years of relevant civil construction experience
- Proven hands-on work in the nominated construction trade
- Able to show previous employment and the duties carried out in it
- Relevant trade qualifications or tickets where applicable; Dogman, Working at Heights, Telehandler, CN, C6 or HR tickets are advantageous
- Solid knowledge of safe work practices in construction
- Communicates well and follows site instructions
- Works productively alone and as part of a crew
- Close attention to detail and real commitment to quality workmanship
- Dependable with attendance, responsibilities and project deadlines
- Prepared to work on metropolitan, regional and interstate projects
