General Manager

Position: General Manager. Property: a new accommodation and lifestyle operation in Wellington Central, New Zealand. Sponsorship: a visa is available for the right candidate, and overseas applicants with verified hospitality experience are encouraged to apply.

This is a career-defining step for a proven hospitality leader prepared to take full ownership. Your job will be to set operational standards, shape a team culture and create a property that gives guests outstanding experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the entire property operation and its business results, driving continuous improvement while keeping operations consistent
  • Lead the opening and operational set-up, putting dependable systems, processes and service standards in place from day one
  • Run housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, guest services and accommodation
  • Coach, develop and support department heads to reach operational goals, and support staff training, engagement and professional growth
  • Shape a culture of service excellence, collaboration and accountability, with clear communication across every department
  • Make sure every guest enjoys a consistent, high-quality stay, representing the property's values through visible leadership and positive guest contact
  • Track revenue, labour efficiency and operating costs, using data and operational insight to raise performance and guest satisfaction
  • Spot problems early and put practical fixes in place

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven senior-level experience running accommodation, hospitality or lifestyle-focused properties
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational complexity and lead teams that span several departments
  • Strong hospitality leadership background with business results that can be measured
  • Has built service standards, processes and teams in a fast-changing environment
  • Balances strategic business planning with hands-on leadership
  • Understands guest experience management, profitability drivers and accommodation operations
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, cost control and labour management
  • Strong communicator who can motivate and influence diverse teams, and a confident decision-maker who solves operational challenges practically
  • Food and beverage leadership experience is highly regarded
  • Passionate about people, travel, hospitality and creating memorable experiences
