Head Chef
Hospitality · Sydney NSW, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr
The venue: a brand-new hospitality business in NSW, hiring its Head Chef ahead of opening.
The opportunity: a serious career move for a chef who can already point to kitchen leadership. Shortlisting leans heavily on your experience, qualifications and professional background, so evidence of people management, cost control and consistent food output at scale counts for more than simply filling a position.

Tip for Pakistani applicants: keep an English CV that shows each leadership post clearly.

- Launch: steer the kitchen through opening and on into day-to-day trade
- Ownership: answer for the entire kitchen operation
- Team: recruit a brigade of over 20 kitchen staff, then coach, supervise and grow each person
- Service: handle busy, high-volume trade
- Menus: design dishes that make commercial sense, roll them out and hold food quality and plating to standard
- Costs: manage spending on food, labour and purchasing
- Stock: watch inventory levels and reduce waste
- Suppliers: develop ties with suppliers in the local area
- Systems: introduce kitchen processes that work, and enforce HACCP, food safety and WHS rules
- Leadership: partner closely with the people running the venue
