Where: Brisbane, Queensland. Who: a qualified Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic. What: keeping a modern heavy road transport fleet running for an established business that is still growing.
The workshop was purpose-built, and the fleet depends on it. Your job is to keep trucks reliable, cut the hours they spend off the road and make sure each one is safe to operate.
This suits a mechanic with real heavy-fleet experience who cares about equipment that does not let drivers down, gets diagnosis right and turns out quality mechanical work.

Key Responsibilities
- Pin down the cause of mechanical faults, troubleshoot breakdowns and choose the right fix
- Handle routine servicing and planned preventative work across the heavy road transport fleet
- Work on Volvo and Mack Titan prime movers as well as heavy multi-combination trucks, servicing and repairing them
- Take on major repairs to engines, transmissions, drivelines and other components, including rebuilds and change-outs
- Inspect trucks and catch developing equipment problems early
- Hold the fleet to a high standard of safety and operational readiness
- Fill in service records and maintenance paperwork
- Use diagnostic equipment and workshop tools properly and with care for safety
- Turn jobs around efficiently so trucks spend as little time off the road as possible
- Work with the workshop crew and transport staff to keep enough of the fleet available
- Follow every health, safety and environmental rule at work, with tidy housekeeping and a safe workshop
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
- Proven track record as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, with strong road transport and heavy vehicle maintenance experience
- Demonstrated hands-on time with heavy multi-combination trucks
- Highly regarded: Volvo and/or Mack Titan prime mover experience
- Strong skills in mechanical fault-finding and diagnostics
- Experience running preventative maintenance programs and completing major mechanical repairs and component rebuilds
- Essential: current C Class Australian driver's licence
- Highly regarded: HR licence
- National Police Clearance (current), or willing to obtain one
- Comfortable working a structured local roster
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail, and dependable in maintenance and repair work
- Communicates well and works well in a team
- Prepared to relocate to Western Australia if required
