Heavy Vehicle Technician / Diesel Mechanic

Heavy vehicle specialists: established operations across Victoria, with this position based in Sunshine West, Melbourne, need skilled technicians who have real hands-on experience. The role is full-time.

Holding the trade certificate is the starting point, not the finish line. Selection will look closely at your track record of diagnosing, servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, along with your technical knowledge and employment background. Workshop repairs, scheduled servicing and mobile field service are all part of the picture.

Expect variety: different fleets, truck brands and repair jobs, plus room to keep building your career in heavy automotive work. Mechanics from Pakistan and other countries should keep verified employment records and an English CV on hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and general upkeep of heavy commercial vehicles
  • Find and fix mechanical, electrical and diesel faults across heavy vehicle systems, using diagnostic tools and mechanical test procedures
  • Check trucks, trailers and related components
  • Handle breakdowns and corrective repairs
  • Service a mix of truck brands and customer fleets, in the workshop or out in the field as assigned
  • Keep repair documents and service records up to date
  • Look after tools, equipment and service vehicles properly
  • Stick to workplace health, safety and quality procedures
  • Cooperate with fellow technicians and supervisors

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (essential)
  • Proven practical experience working as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic, with demonstrated servicing, diagnostic and repair ability
  • An employment history in heavy vehicle mechanics that is genuine and can be verified
  • Evidence of your relevant qualifications and work experience
  • A current Australian driver’s licence
  • Australian working rights suited to the position
  • Strong mechanical problem-solving
  • Commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship
  • Able to work on your own and within a technical team, and willing to work in a workshop or in field service
  • Sponsorship available to eligible candidates, subject to requirements and approvals
