HR Coordinator

Role: HR Coordinator, full-time, in the People & Culture team of a well-regarded organisation in Tauranga, New Zealand.
Scope: this is not a purely administrative post. You will cover recruitment, employee engagement, HR systems, compliance support and process improvement, and you will work directly with leaders and staff to strengthen HR practice and improve how people experience their workplace.

Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment: coordinate hiring activity, keep candidates informed, schedule interviews and prepare employment paperwork
- Onboarding: manage the induction process so new starters get a positive first experience
- Daily HR support: help day-to-day HR operations run smoothly and keep people services on track
- Records: keep employee files, HR databases and confidential documents accurate and up to date
- Contracts: draft employment agreements, contract variations and HR correspondence
- Employee changes: handle lifecycle steps such as role changes, transfers and departures
- Manager guidance: assist managers with HR questions, policies and workplace procedures
- Visa paperwork: support immigration and AEWV-related documentation when it is needed
- Development: organise training programmes, staff development activities and engagement initiatives
- Improvement: review HR processes for better efficiency and service delivery, and create HR resources, templates and systems that meet business needs
- Culture: encourage a positive workplace through clear communication and employee support
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business, Management or a related discipline, or equivalent HR experience
- Earlier experience as an HR Coordinator, HR Administrator, People & Culture Assistant or in a comparable role
- Practical knowledge of HR processes, employee paperwork and workplace practices, plus experience using HR software, databases and digital systems
- Understanding of HR best practices and employment compliance requirements
- Previous exposure to immigration, visa or international recruitment processes is beneficial
- Strong skills in planning, organisation and time management
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with every level of an organisation
- Able to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- A problem-solving approach and willingness to improve systems and processes, together with strong relationship-building skills and a genuine interest in supporting people
- Willingness to relocate and build a long-term HR career in Tauranga, New Zealand
