Industrial Blaster & Painter

Employer: an expanding industrial coatings outfit in Canning Vale, Perth, Western Australia. Role: Blaster Painter, for a tradesperson who can prove real, hands-on ability in abrasive blasting, preparing surfaces and putting down protective coatings.

Key Responsibilities
- Blast industrial products and surfaces of many kinds using abrasive methods
- Bring each surface up to the specified standard ahead of coating, and confirm it is fit to take a coat
- Spray epoxy, urethane and other protective systems, watching each coat so the finish and coverage stay even
- Rig up and operate blast pots, compressors, spray units and the tools that go with them
- Pick up faults in surfaces, coatings or equipment and pass them on through the proper channel
- Clean, service and check all blasting and coating gear
- Finish every project on time and to the quality required, working in an accurate, consistent way
- Work within site safety procedures, industry rules and Australian Standards, leaving the area tidy and safe
- Cooperate with supervisors and the other trades on site
- Cover occasional night or weekend shifts when asked, paid at penalty rates
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years’ genuine hands-on abrasive blasting experience
- A demonstrated record in industrial blasting and protective coating work
- Can show quality surface preparation in practice
- Has applied industrial protective coatings on real jobs
- Solid grasp of the blasting, prep and coating process from start to finish
- Trade experience you can both show and have checked
- Detail-focused, proud of your work and consistently committed to health and safety at work
- Dependable and professional, comfortable working solo while pulling your weight in a crew
- Fit enough for heavy industrial work
- Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application is highly regarded
- AMPP/NACE or other recognised protective coatings qualifications are highly regarded
- A Forklift licence and a White Card are each highly regarded
- Applicants must satisfy the relevant employment and compliance requirements
