Junior Accountant

Position: Junior Accountant with a well-established agribusiness near Regans Ford in the Northam and Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Full-time.

The finance function is growing and needs an early-career accountant. You will work with senior finance staff on daily accounting across several business entities, and gain wider experience in reporting, financial administration and business support.

Your qualifications and work history must accurately reflect your accounting ability. Accountants applying from Pakistan or elsewhere should have degree transcripts and an English CV ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run accounts receivable: raise invoices, allocate payments and manage debtors
  • Handle credits, rebates and customer claims, and reconcile customer and intercompany accounts
  • Chase overdue payments, track outstanding balances and produce aged receivables reports and collection forecasts
  • Help verify customer accounts and meet compliance requirements
  • Process payroll journals and keep payroll records
  • Prepare or help prepare BAS, IAS and PAYG reporting
  • Keep general ledger entries, journals and fixed asset registers up to date
  • Complete month-end and year-end reconciliations
  • Help put together financial and management reports
  • Support monitoring and forecasting of cash flow
  • Keep financial records accurate across multiple entities, using accounting software
  • Comply with accounting standards and company policy
  • Work with senior finance staff on reporting and analysis
  • Join finance meetings and produce ad hoc reports

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Minimum three years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts or accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable and reconciliations
  • Payroll processing experience and familiarity with Australian tax compliance
  • Understanding of IFRS and/or Australian Accounting Standards
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, covering formulas, lookups and pivot tables
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to juggle several priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or Reckon is advantageous
  • Experience in a multi-entity business environment is desirable
  • CPA or CA studies will be highly regarded
