Dunedin, Otago: a new, premium Italian-inspired dining operation in New Zealand is building its kitchen team and needs an experienced Chef de Partie for this Line Chef role.
Because the venue is new, you will help set kitchen standards from day one, cooking with seasonal produce and working on fresh pasta, pizzettas and Italian-inspired plates. The employer is after chefs with genuine commercial kitchen backgrounds who own their work and bring proven technique, consistency, organisation and confidence in a professional service.

Key Responsibilities
- Run your allotted section through prep and service, with mise en place complete before each day's trade
- Cook and plate dishes to the set recipes and presentation standards, keeping quality, portions, look and timing steady all service
- Lend a hand with fresh pasta and traditional dough making
- Support stock control, ordering, food cost management and inventory processes
- Comply with New Zealand food safety and hygiene rules, and keep your station clean, orderly and efficient
- Cooperate with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and the rest of the kitchen
- Help keep the kitchen disciplined and professional
- Play a part in developing the team and setting strong kitchen habits
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional chef experience
- Proven background in a commercial kitchen, including busy or high-volume services
- Italian cuisine experience is strongly preferred
- Can manage a kitchen section independently
- Strong grasp of food preparation, hygiene and food safety
- Understands stock control and commercial kitchen systems
- A relevant cookery qualification such as NZ Level 4 or equivalent is preferred
- Strong organisation and attention to detail, keeping standards consistent under pressure
- Willing to work evenings and weekends in a six-day operation
- Applicants must have legal work rights in New Zealand or meet Accredited Employer Work Visa requirements
- Overseas candidates with suitable qualifications and experience may be eligible for sponsorship
