Key Responsibilities
- Operate packaging and production machines efficiently and safely, owning the condition and performance of the equipment you are assigned
- Get machines set up and ready before production starts, handle product changeovers and adjust settings as operations require
- Keep an eye on machines and output quality during every run, reacting to performance problems and checking how equipment is operating
- Notice stoppages, faults and anything unusual in how a machine behaves, and use hands-on mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot
- Carry out basic maintenance, lubrication and routine cleaning
- Fill in production records and the operational documents that are required
- Work to food safety, quality and workplace health and safety procedures
- Pitch in with kegging, packaging, warehousing and moving finished goods
- Assist when new machinery is installed and commissioned, and help trial and fine-tune automated production equipment
- Find ways to reduce stoppages and get more out of each machine
- Help production flow smoothly, reliably and efficiently
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or machine operating
- Demonstrated hands-on operation of industrial or production machinery, from a previous role as a Machine Operator, Production Operator or similar
- Strong troubleshooting skills and practical mechanical knowledge
- Can set machines up, adjust them accurately for operation, recognise when equipment is faulty and investigate why
- Experience caring for equipment and doing basic mechanical maintenance
- Strong focus on quality in production and safety in the workplace
- Good eye for detail when checking finished products and monitoring machines
- Practical and hands-on in production work, able to work alone and take ownership of how machinery performs
- Keen interest in production technology, modern machinery and automation
- Experience in food or beverage production, bottling, canning or packaging is advantageous
- Can provide evidence to support relevant production and machinery experience
- Willing to relocate to Otago and build a long-term career in New Zealand; eligible international applicants may be considered for sponsorship
