Setting: an established food manufacturing operation in Western Australia, running sophisticated high-speed production and packaging lines where reliability, precision and quick fault diagnosis are essential.
Who our client wants: a Maintenance Fitter with proven specialist knowledge of complex thermoforming and packaging equipment. General maintenance experience alone will not stand out; the emphasis is on verified technical expertise and genuine hands-on skill in maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising this kind of machinery.
Extra edge: MULTIVAC thermoforming equipment, especially R-Series machinery, will be highly regarded.
Applicants from Pakistan should list the machine makes they have serviced on an English CV.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance: carry out preventive and reactive work on thermoforming and packaging machines, and contribute to continuous improvement and preventative maintenance programs
- Fault-finding: diagnose and fix mechanical faults on high-speed production equipment, responding quickly to breakdowns and production maintenance needs
- Thermoforming systems: troubleshoot heating, forming and sealing stages
- Utilities: look after vacuum and compressed air systems
- Automation: work on servo-driven and automated production machinery
- Film handling: maintain film feed and tension control systems
- Packaging: support MAP and vacuum packaging operations
- Changeovers: complete tooling changes, production line changeovers and equipment adjustments, tuning machine performance
- Root cause: investigate repeat faults and pinpoint what is behind them
- Reliability: find ways to make machinery more dependable and cut downtime
- Projects: help install and commission machinery, working closely with production and engineering teams to keep output consistent
- Safety: complete all maintenance according to safety and operational procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Tradesperson
- Demonstrated background in food manufacturing, packaging, processing or a similar production setting
- Thermoforming: proven hands-on experience with the machinery and a strong understanding of the equipment and processes
- MULTIVAC experience: highly desirable
- MULTIVAC R-Series machines: experience advantageous
- Know-how covering forming stations, heating plates and sealing systems, plus cutting and punching equipment
- Vacuum and compressed air systems: hands-on experience
- Servo-driven machinery: experience
- Film feed and tension control systems: understanding
- MAP or vacuum packaging technology: experience highly regarded
- Strong skills in mechanical fault-finding and diagnosis
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems: experience
- Able to trace the cause of complex equipment failures
- Able to work on your own and under production pressure
- Strong safety awareness and good preventative maintenance habits
- Good communication and teamwork
- Flexible to work rotating early and afternoon shifts
