Management Accountant

Employer: an established construction business in New South Wales with a growing, project-based operation.
Role: Management Accountant, reporting to the CFO. You will strengthen the finance function and help manage the company's finances across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and finance systems.
Why it matters: the job goes beyond preparing accounts. You will handle meaningful financial information, work closely with senior leadership and see the commercial side of an established Australian business. It is a solid base for an accountant who can show proven capability and wants to grow into broader commercial responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
- Run the month-end close, including all reconciliations
- Keep ledger entries and financial records accurate
- Produce the monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow pack
- Dig into the numbers each period and give management analysis and reports they can act on
- Take part in the yearly budget and keep forecasts current
- Help plan overheads and track how the business performs financially
- Oversee day-to-day cash and feed into cash flow forecasts
- Suggest changes that make finance processes smoother and reporting more accurate
- Make sure data stays dependable as it moves between accounting systems and integrations
- Keep the finance systems sound and running efficiently
- Partner with the CFO, the finance team and site operations on commercial and project initiatives in a complex construction setting
Requirements & Eligibility
- CA or CPA qualified, or on the way to qualification right now
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline that is relevant
- Solid grounding in financial reporting and accounting principles
- Hands-on experience running month-end accounting procedures
- Has worked in budgeting, forecasting or management reporting
- Confident user of Excel and financial systems
- Able to read financial information, pick up issues or opportunities, and stay precise with financial detail
- Communicates clearly, manages stakeholders professionally and works well with finance and non-finance teams alike
- If you have worked in construction or project-based accounting, that is advantageous
- Experience with Jobpac is advantageous
