Key Responsibilities

  • Look over vehicles and judge their mechanical condition before suggesting repairs
  • Track down faults with systematic troubleshooting and suitable diagnostic methods, pinpointing underlying problems and choosing the right fix
  • Complete scheduled services, preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs
  • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, suspension parts and other mechanical systems
  • Use diagnostic equipment and workshop tools safely and with accuracy
  • Meet professional safety and quality standards on all repairs, with accurate work practices throughout each job
  • Run checks on vehicles after repair work to confirm correct operation
  • Pass on practical technical know-how to apprentices and junior technicians
  • Help keep the workshop safe, clean and running efficiently, cooperating with the broader automotive team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A Motor Mechanic trade qualification that is recognised, or an equivalent one obtained overseas
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on, relevant experience in automotive work preferred
  • Genuine experience in diagnosing, servicing and repairing vehicles that you can demonstrate
  • An advantage: earlier experience in a dealership or professional workshop
  • Able to supply evidence backing up your qualifications and past employment
  • Strong skills in diagnostics, troubleshooting and solving mechanical problems, with a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Holds a current driver's licence and can drive manual as well as automatic vehicles
  • Works independently and takes responsibility for completed work
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, a professional attitude and commitment to safety at work
  • Prepared to relocate to the Northern Territory
  • Visa sponsorship may be considered for candidates who require it, depending on suitability and on qualification and experience verification
