Key Responsibilities
- Align mechanical services with the electrical, structural, architectural and other disciplines on each project
- Head up, or play a part in, mechanical design for infrastructure and building jobs across healthcare, industrial, residential, commercial and other developments
- Prepare full design packages: drawings and detailed designs, calculations, specs, reports and the documents behind them
- Analyse what each job needs from an engineering point of view and devise technical answers that work
- Carry assignments all the way through design, coordination and delivery to completion, watching deadlines, deliverables, technical needs and overall quality
- Review technical output for safety, compliance, accuracy and quality, applying professional engineering standards to everything you do
- Attend site inspections, coordination sessions, design reviews and project meetings as needed
- Meet clients and stakeholders face to face to learn what they want, provide suitable outcomes and grow long-term professional relationships
- Offer practical engineering support and technical advice to project teams, passing on knowledge so colleagues develop
- Help win new projects and back business development, while keeping current with engineering practice and pushing for continuous improvement
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a recognised equivalent
- Substantial professional background in engineering consultancy, industrial engineering or mechanical building services
- A demonstrated history of carrying projects through from design stage to completion, with experience running projects that differ in scope, complexity and delivery needs
- Solid grasp of the principles and design practices of mechanical engineering, plus proven problem-solving, analytical and technical ability
- Strong communicator who works well with stakeholders and clients, with a demonstrated knack for forming and maintaining professional relationships
- Can juggle priorities that compete and still hand in work by the deadlines agreed
- Dedicated to practical outcomes, compliance, safety and quality in engineering
- Effective member of a professional team that collaborates closely
- Commercially aware and keen to develop business and client opportunities
- Chartered Professional Engineer status, or active progress towards chartership, is advantageous
- Prepared to undergo checks on credentials, professional experience, employment history and qualifications
