Motel manager

Position: Motel manager in San Remo, Victoria. One person will be accountable for how this motel performs each day, covering staff, guest services, property standards and business results.
The employer wants a manager who pairs practical hospitality knowledge with team leadership and commercial sense, and who can run the property efficiently while every guest receives a consistently positive stay.

Key Responsibilities
- Hold overall charge of the motel's daily running, directing front office, housekeeping, maintenance and guest service work
- Train, roster, supervise and lead motel employees, building a workplace that stays professional and positive
- Set high standards for cleanliness, presentation and service to guests, and hold the property to them
- Deal promptly with guest questions, complaints and any operational problems that arise
- Watch occupancy, reservations, revenue and wider business results; help with budgets, financial controls and cost management; and find practical ways to lift profit and efficiency
- Organise maintenance, repairs and facility improvements, and look after the motel's dealings with suppliers, contractors and service providers
- Plan initiatives that raise bookings, guest satisfaction and the motel's visibility, and act as its professional representative with local businesses and tourism organisations
- Keep financial, operational and guest records accurate, and ensure compliance with workplace, health, safety, hygiene and hospitality requirements
- Review operations on an ongoing basis and bring in improvements wherever they are required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated management experience in a motel, hotel or other accommodation business, backed by a verifiable background in hospitality operations and management
- Proven ability to lead, train and manage hospitality staff
- Strong understanding of accommodation operations and of guest service
- Experience in budgeting, cost control and revenue monitoring, as well as with hotel management systems and point-of-sale software
- Strong skills in customer service, conflict resolution, communication and dealing with people
- Ability to take ownership of operational matters and reach decisions independently
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy hospitality environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and public holidays included
- Relevant hospitality qualifications are advantageous
- Additional language skills, such as fluent Mandarin, will be highly regarded
- Ability to provide genuine employment history, qualifications and professional references so they can be verified
- Must satisfy applicable Australian employment and employer sponsorship requirements
