The role: full-time Panel Beater at an automotive workshop in Clyde, Sydney NSW. The work covers body repairs, smash repairs and panel restoration on many vehicle makes and models.

Key Responsibilities
- Before any repair, assess the damaged vehicle, study the job sheet and confirm incoming parts are correct, suitable and defect-free
- Dismantle vehicles as the repair instructions and job specify, taking off damaged panels, frames and other components
- Fix, swap or refit body panels and structural parts
- Handle metalwork: shaping, cutting, straightening, welding and fabrication with the proper workshop tools and techniques
- Support frame alignment, rust treatment and structural repairs when the job calls for it
- Prepare surfaces by applying filler and sanding
- Rebuild each vehicle with care after the repair is done
- Check that finished jobs reach the required quality and industry standards
- Look after every customer and company vehicle carefully
- Keep tools, equipment and your bay safe, clean, orderly and in working condition
- Observe all workplace health and safety procedures and PPE rules
- Cooperate with colleagues for smooth workshop operations and keep up with current repair methods and industry practices
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Panel Beater trade qualification, or industry experience of an equivalent level
- Proven background in smash repairs and automotive panel beating
- Able to demonstrate and verify your relevant work history and professional identity, and willing to take part in the employer’s candidate verification and assessment process
- Strong knowledge of panel replacement and vehicle body repair techniques
- Practical skill in welding, fabrication, cutting and metal shaping
- Understanding of frame alignment, structural repair and rust treatment
- Experience with sanding, surface preparation and body filler application, and with accurately taking vehicle components apart and reassembling them
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Responsible, safe handling of tools and workshop equipment, with commitment to following workplace safety and OH&S requirements
- Good teamwork and communication skills; dependable, motivated and professional at work
